A professional valuation service, for the purposes of insurance only, is carried out on the premises by Helen Davidson. Helen is a member of the Institute of Registered Valuers, membership number IRV74394. An IRV (Institute Registered Valuer) is a qualified, experienced and knowledgeable expert in whom you can trust. Jewellery valuations require expertise and discipline in order to ensure that descriptions are precise, identifications correct and measurements accurate.
The documentation we provide includes photography of all items, a concise description of the jewellery, gemstone measurements and assessments and a value reflecting the amount it would need to be covered for on your insurance policy.
For this comprehensive document we charge a minimum of £100 plus £50 for each item, i.e. three items would be a minimum of £250. Any item valued as over £15,000, is charged at 1% of the value plus VAT.
All items are cleaned and check by our resident jeweller and remain onsite for the duration of the service. Please be aware this is not a “while you wait” service, turnaround time is usually 2 weeks depending on how many items there are. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are not taking in any valuations until further notice. We do not value items under £1,000, however, if you are unsure if they would be over this threshold, bring them in to us and we will advise on this during the take in procedure. To proceed with the valuation, we would need to see all supporting documentation, such as receipts and certificates if available.
